Focusing in on the 18 – 30 age range, Steppin’ Out will take the formulas that propel successful television shows like Made and Teen Mom to a whole other emotional level.
Homosexuality has again become an important hot button topic in this country and all over the world. For thousands upon thousands of minorities and first generation Americans it can be argued that being gay is the worse type of “burden” they can bring to their families. Instead of being honest, young men and women would rather stay on the “down low” and toil in a seedy underworld full of drugs, depression and prostitution. This self-imposed sentence leads to countless suicides, emotional issues, and/or incarceration. We have set out to create a “safe space” for these individuals to “come out” to their families as well as give courage to thousands of others who need the example to emulate.
The first season will take place in New York City. As the show gains popularity, there will be the possibility of going to other urban cities where there are large numbers of minorities, i.e. Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, etc. We will also have the opportunity to delve into the history of intolerance within the culture from which the subject hails. Whether it is religious or other cultural pressure, the drama will be sure to keep the show relevant and interesting for years to come.
